Hi, my name is Courtney Saul, and I am a graphic designer & illustrator located in South Jersey. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Rowan University with a BFA in Studio with a Specialization in Graphic Design. In my final semester at Rowan, I became a recipient of the Harvey & Harriet Alpert Award for Creative Achievement medallion. This essentially means that I produce a high quality of art in all areas, from drawing/painting to sculpture to graphic design.
From the ages of 6 – 17 I was a dancer in ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical. When I got to college, I knew that it was time to move onto better things. Dancing for so many years has not only helped shape my dedication for what I do, but also my creativity. There is so much movement in this world through shapes and colors. This concept became more evident to me through the art of dance. These elements are what inspire my designs, along with my paintings.
Color is especially important to me when designing. When I'm painting, I see more color than what may actually appear at first glance. Color, to me, is what makes a piece cohesive, as well as an element that adds interest. It is always one of the first things people see, so you have to make it good. I use this mentality of thinking when I design, and I think that translates quite well in my work.
One of the things that I think sets me apart from other designers is my corny sense of humor that I tend to incorporate into my designs. I thoroughly enjoy a good pun, and certainly will not hesitate to use it whenever necessary. Whether it be a quirky title or a small illustration; I almost always try to squeeze one in there. Life's too short to not laugh every once in awhile!
